Comic Books

Five comic books were developed as part of the FAME Project by the Famiréa group, which includes Professor Elie Azoulay, head of the medical intensive care unit at Saint-Louis Hospital, Dr. Nancy Kentish-Barnes, a sociologist, Dr. Frédéric Pochard, a psychiatrist, psychologist Anne Renet, and illustrator Dr. Toons, a specialist in medical education through comics.

Four of these comic books were designed for the families of patients hospitalized in intensive care. They aim to provide an educational tool to help better understand and cope with the challenges of this difficult experience in intensive care units.

The fifth comic book, focused on family-centered care, is intended for healthcare professionals.

These comic books will be made available to the 65 intensive care units participating in the RHU FAME project, and their impact on families’ experiences will be assessed in a randomized trial starting in January 2024
